Viruses can also replicate themselves and are dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of virus is the one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.

How does a computer virus damage a computer?

Computer viruses are programmed to damage the computer by damaging programs, deleting files, or reformatting the hard disk, some viruses may not do any damage, but simply replicate themselves and perhaps make their presence known by presenting text, video, or audio messages.

What is a worm?

A worm is a program or algorithm that replicates itself over a computer network and usually performs malicious actions, such as using up the computer's resources and possibly shutting the system down.
